I grabbed the glass of wine and took another huge gulp. My past wasn’t pretty. In fact, it was gruesome. No one had ever been interested in my journey until now. Kadon seemed genuinely engrossed and that made me comfortable enough to discuss my history.

“How deep do you want me to get?” I questioned.

“Shit, as deep as you can stand it.”

I nodded, adjusting myself in the chair. “Well, you remember the world I was telling you about?”

He bobbed his head.

“Well, it was one of the most horrible experiences I ever had to go through. At first, I wasn’t touched. I just got transported from man-to-man until I settled on this one guy named Benja. He was a sick person, and he had an array of young girls in his residence. He used to lock us in a room, and we couldn’t talk to each other. When he wanted to get pleasured, he would choose one of us and do his thing.”

A bitter taste coated my mouth as I thought back to the way Benja used to sexually abuse me.

“I hated the feeling so I… well, this is going to sound crazy. I don’t know if I want to tell you.” I smiled nervously.

“Then don’t.”

“…Well, let’s just say, I wouldn’t shower because Benja had the nerve to have a weak stomach. And sometimes, certain smells would make him sick. So, I wouldn’t shower just to build a body odor. He would choose me to pleasure him but as soon as he would smell me, he’d vomit. He would be sick for days which would give me and the other girls some relief. It had gotten to the point where Benja would refuse to let me in his presence. That's just a bit of what I went through when I was in that world.”

“I understand why you did that. It couldn’t have felt good to you either.”

“No, it didn’t, but I was willing to do anything to keep his hands off me. At night, I would cry for my grandma, knowing she couldn’t save me. I remembered feeling like death would be better than what I was trapped in. Up until recently, I still felt that way.”

Admitting that fact, produced an aching sensation in my chest. I found it crazy that I would rather be dead than to live the life that was assigned to me.

“You still got shit to do, Cyra. I don’t think your grandma would want you to tap out on her.”

“I guess so.” I shrugged.

“Can I ask where you were during that time?” Kadon inquired.

“Like the city?”

“Yeah?”

“I was in Mexico before Ennio got me.”

“Are you scarred by that shit that happened to you?”

I licked my lips. “Right now, I'm just numb.”

“Damn,” he muttered just as the waiter brought out our food.

My mouth watered when the hot plate was placed in front of me. Right away, I grabbed my silverware and prepared to dig in.

“Cyra.”

I peered up into Kadon’s dark irises.

“Yeah?”

“Try to taste the food, a’ight?”

I chortled loudly, throwing my head back.
